Professional Bio
Kathryn Martin is the Founder and CEO of Melanated Melon a Veteran driven humanitarian effort committed to supporting children and families impacted by childhood cancer. This mission came at the loss of her own pride and joy, 15-year-old son, Johnathan Kennith McCain who lost his life, 3 months after diagnosis, to a rare childhood cancer called NUT Midline Carcinoma on October 5th, 2021. Melanated Melon fundraises to provide food and fuel cards, grief support for women, legacy gifts and more. Kathryn has also proudly served her country as a Combat Medic in the United States Army for 20 years, retiring as a Sergeant First Class in December of 2017. Kathryn is the wife of Retired Army Master Sergeant Michael J. Martin II and they have 7 children Jada (20), Isaiah (17), Johnathan (forever 15), Jasmine (13), Olivia (11), Sasha and Tahlia (6-year-old twins) and two fur babies [pets] Bain and Zod. When she is not serving her community through speaking engagements, hosting The Be Johnathan Strong 5K Run/Walk or fundraising, she enjoys traveling, beekeeping, crafting, reading, and other outdoor activities.
Additionally, she holds a Bachelors in Multidisciplinary Studies and Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Administration from Saint Leo University.
