How Can We Help? Hurricane Recovery
As South Carolina faces yet another devastating storm, memories of past disasters like the floods of 2015, 2016, 2018, and even Hurricane Hugo in 1989, come rushing back. During times like these, we in the nonprofit sector ask ourselves, “How can we help?”
Together, we are Allies For Good.
Collaboration has always been our strength, and now more than ever, it’s crucial that we come together to respond effectively.
Today, we convened a call with the SC Grantmakers' Network, United Way Association of SC, and representatives from the Governor’s Office to plan a coordinated philanthropic response.
Our focus is on directing resources where they are needed most.
Below, you’ll find important information and resources to assist you as we navigate recovery efforts.
We will keep this page updated with new developments.
How You Can Get Involved:
-
Take our Nonprofit Mobilization Survey: Help us understand how your organization is responding and where support is needed most.
- Watch Recording: Hurricane Helene: How Funders Can Support Recovery hosted by the Center for Disaster Philanthropy,
- Watch Recording: Hurricane Helene Recovery with FEMA Webinar
-
The state of SC is asking volunteers NOT to self-deploy, as unexpectedly showing up to communities impacted by Hurricane Helene will create an additional burden for first responders. If you are not affiliated with a group, please register at VolunteerSC.org. Volunteer opportunities will be added as officials move in after the storm to assess the damage, and registering will allow us to best match volunteers with the appropriate opportunities.
