Members,
At 5:00 PM today, President Trump will sign additional Executive Orders.
Over the last week or so, we have heard increased chatter at the national level, and from our own members, that some of these Executive Orders may specifically target the nonprofit sector, or at least broad areas within our sector.
We have not seen exact language for any EOs, but we are aware that nonprofit-related EOs potentially deal with:
- Revocation of tax-exempt status of organizations based on potential conflict with Administration priorities.
- Increased oversight on federal grantees.
- Restriction of grants made internationally.
- Targeted actions on specific foundations and nonprofits.
These EOs have not, as of writing, been confirmed to be issued today. In fact, early indications were that these would be released yesterday, on Earth Day, but due to internal debate in the White House and with outreach by members of Congress, they were not finalized and their issue date is still uncertain.
However, the President is scheduled to sign additional Executive Orders at 5:00 PM today, hinting at some of these may be included.
Our team is already in contact with congressional offices ahead of these potential Executive Orders and will be ready to work with any member on ensuring any impacts they may experience can be communicated to our elected officials.
If these Executive Orders are released, our team will be working to analyze them and provide you with an update, as soon as late this evening if necessary.
Stay tuned. We'll have an update after we see/read the EOs that get signed and the press conference concludes tonight.
Your Ally For Good,
