Raising the Voice of our Sector & Strengthening our State, Together
Has your organization found itself focusing more and more on public policy and politics in your community or in South Carolina?
Same.
Politics has drifted into nonprofit missions more than ever before and many nonprofits just aren’t quite ready to jump in headfirst into the world of the State House or Council Chambers.
This trend was recognized by Together SC member Jamie Moon, President/CEO of the Institute for Child Success, who asked Together SC to invite organizations deeply engaged in advocacy work already to meet over lunch during the 2017 SC Nonprofit Summit in Greenville.
From that lunch, Together SC created the Advocacy Allies Peer Network.
Today, that Peer Network has nearly 300 members (individuals and organizations) who fall anywhere from the advocacy-curious to the advocacy pros.
It is a Network that we are excited to Co-Chair beginning July 1, following the path carved out for us by Jamie Moon and Chynna Phillips (Sisters of Charity Foundation SC), our most recent Chair.
If you or your organization are exploring how advocacy fits into your mission and/or job description, or you’re interested in networking with nonprofit peers who have been at it for a while, we hope you will consider joining the Advocacy Allies Peer Network.
We have some exciting things in the works for our Network this coming year including a new approach to our programming that provides both “Internal” advocacy programming (strengthening organizations) and “External” programming (strengthening our sector’s impact in public policy).
All of this with our staff liaison, and newest addition to the Together SC team, GP McLeer (Director of Public Policy & Community Engagement).
We look forward to raising the voice of our sector and strengthening our state, together.
